CPD Opportunities

NEF is proud to offer as part of our core charitable activities, unique CPD opportunities aimed at lecturers and curriculum directors in technical and vocational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, including construction, manufacturing ICT, digital media, transport).

IFS

The NEF Industrial Fellowship Scheme provides a grant to enable FE lecturers to take a placement of upto three weeks with industry or at a research centre. The aim is to refresh lecturers’ understanding of the commercial or research environment, so enhancing the industrial context of their teaching, as well as to enable the college to develop strong links with the business community, and promote cross-curricular activities and the dissemination of current industry practices and technologies within FE colleges.

Masterclasses

NEF Masterclasses & Briefings are events designed for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) providing rich, real-life and up-to-date resources to take back to the classroom and to steer future STEM curriculum development. NEF Masterclasses take place in industrial venues with hands-on sessions led by industry practitioners and often providing unique opportunities to see behind the scenes. Curriculum directors and heads of department are invited to NEF Briefings that focus on future skills for new and emerging technologies.

  • Call for Industrial Fellowship Scheme

    The Industrial Fellowship Scheme, running since 2005, is backed by generous financial support from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. The scheme enables each participating college to apply for a grant towards the secondment of up to three Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lecturers to take secondments in industry, with local businesses or research organisations.
