Masterclasses & Briefings
NEF Masterclasses are one day tailor made events for Science, Engineering,
Construction and Technology lecturers in learning and skills sector designed for
Continuing Professional Development purposes. Taking place on industrial sites they
are delivered by practitioners and include hands on experience sessions.
Aim: To update lecturers’ knowledge and experience in line with industry
development in hi-tech and emerging technologies.
NEF Briefings bring together decision makers in learning providers, industry
representatives and sector skills councils for a half day event to provide them
with an overview of recent trends and opportunities that are likely to affect the
workforce development and training provision in a particular sector.
Aim:
- To inform the participants of opportunities and challenges in the sector
- To initiate action in the educational sector
- To develop and enhance provision in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology and
across curriculums that would match ‘real life’ requirements today and in the future
Past Briefing topics have included: Photonics and Printed Electronics, Smart Metering
and Smart Grid Systems, Wind Power, and Low Energy Design and Construction.
Supported by the
Gatsby Charitable
Foundation, most Masterclasses are being offered to Further and Higher Education
institutions at the subsidised booking fee of £72. Other attendees are welcome at
the standard booking fee of £288. Briefings are typically £120+VAT for lecturers
and teachers in public-funded educational organisations (school, FE and HE). This
booking fee is kindly subsidised by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation. For all other
delegates, the standard booking fee is £250+VAT
