Dr Reza Sahandi PhD CEng MIET
Reza has substantial experience in telecommunications technologies. He heads the
postgraduate programmes at the School of Design, Engineering & Computing of Bournemouth
University. As a Senior Academic he leads a number of research projects in such
areas as computer networks and multimedia development. He chairs a number of international
committees and conferences and has published widely. He served as a member of the
Education and Professional Development Panel of the Engineering and Technology Board
in the UK. Reza has strong views about raising the profile and status of Vocational
Education in the UK.
Lance Walker BSc (Hons) MIoD
Lance read Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Queen's Mary University and comes
with over 25 years experience in the fields of technology and software engineering.
He has significant accomplishments in systems design and large scale implementations
as well as running multinational businesses. Lance held a number of senior positions
such as SVP of Carreker Corp, a US software house, COO of Futuremedia Plc – a NASDAQ
quoted Technology Company, and Managing Director of Gasper. Lance has strong passionate
views about educational development in science, engineering and technology.
Dr David Whan PhD DSc CChem FRSC
David is a Member of Council and Trustee of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Chairs
the Society's Professional Affairs and Membership Board. His career has included
academic posts in universities in Ireland, Scotland and England and has also worked
in industry. He was teh founding Director of the Institute of Chemistry in Industry
at the University of Hull and served as Director of the Industrial Research Laboratories
at the University of Durham. He held a Visiting Chair at Queen's University Belfast.
Much of David's research in hetrogeneous catalysis was at the interface between
chemistry and chemical engineering. He spent several years as an Engineering adn
Physical Sciences Research Council coordinator and member of a Department of Trade
and Industry Panel facilitating interaction between those two disciplines.
David has a long standing interest in improving the quality of teaching. He chaired
review panels for the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and was
a member of the HEFCE's Quality Assessment, Learning and Teaching Committee (QALT).
He was also a member of HEFCE's CEntres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Panel and is currently involved in a similar role with the Department of Employment
and Learning in Northern Ireland.
Dan Fox BA (Hons)
Dan is currently an Honorary Research Associate at University College London and
Coordinator of its Institute for Security & Resilience Studies. In 2010 he also
co-founded GameTrain, a consultancy using games, game theory and gamification in
business and professional development.
Since graduating in Politics & International Studies from the University of Warwick
in 1995, Dan has spent various stints as an assistant and advisor for several MPs.
He has spent most of his professional career as a public policy and campaigns consultant
and trainer for a range of organisations and individuals, across all sectors. Dan
held a Senior Executive position at the Engineering and Technology Board.
Involved in a communications role from the NEF's inception, he has also taught A-level
Government & Politics at a school in North London. Internationally, his experience
covers the USA, Brussels, and the Middle East.
Other roles include instructing in the Army Cadet Force, advising the BSI and ISO
on standards in societal security, and blogging on politics, media, psychology and
sport.
